Common Questions

Everything you need to know.

If your question isn't here, call us at (470) 289-6667 and we'll answer it directly.

Getting Started

Book a free 20-minute assessment call. We listen to your situation, ask about your parent's daily needs, and help you understand what level of care makes sense. No pressure, no pitch. Just clarity. Schedule your call here.
In most cases, we can place a caregiver within a few days of your assessment. For urgent situations, we have emergency placement available within 48 hours. If your parent is being discharged from a hospital or rehab facility, call us right away and we'll prioritize your case.
We serve families across the United States. Because our caregivers live in the home, location is flexible. Reach out and we'll confirm coverage for your parent's area.
Just a general sense of your parent's daily routine, any medical conditions or mobility challenges, and what kind of help they currently need. You don't need paperwork or official documents for the first conversation. We'll guide you through the rest.

The Service

Live-in care means a single dedicated caregiver lives in your parent's home full time, providing continuous support around the clock. They sleep there, share meals, and become part of the household. It's the closest thing to having a trusted family member step in so you don't have to worry every time you're not there.
Nursing homes and assisted living facilities are shared environments with rotating staff and institutional schedules. With ByHearth, your parent stays in their own home, in their own room, with one consistent caregiver who knows them personally. The routine, the food, the companionship: all centered on them. For most families, it's a far better quality of life at a comparable or lower cost.
No. Hourly and home health aides come for a few hours and leave. ByHearth caregivers are there all day, every day. They handle everything from morning routines to late-night needs. There's no gap in coverage, no shift handoffs, and no parade of different faces. One person, consistently.

Caregiver Matching

We accept fewer than 5% of applicants. Every caregiver goes through a multi-step process: application screening, video interview, background and reference checks, skills assessment, and a personal interview with our team. We only place caregivers we would trust with our own parents.
Yes. After your assessment call, we present matched caregiver profiles based on your parent's personality, care needs, and preferences. You review, ask questions, and approve before anyone is placed. You are never assigned someone without your input.
Tell us. We take fit seriously and will work quickly to find someone better. We'd rather find the right match than keep a caregiver in place who isn't working for your family.
We coordinate backup coverage so care is never interrupted. Backup caregivers are vetted to the same standard as your primary caregiver. You won't be left scrambling or making calls on your own to find someone.

Cost and Pricing

Pricing is based on your parent's specific needs and care level. We don't quote flat rates because every situation is different. What we can tell you is that live-in care is almost always less than a nursing home ($8,000 to $12,000 per month) or memory care ($5,500 to $9,000 per month). We'll give you a clear, custom quote after a free assessment call. No surprises.
We're flexible. We understand that care needs change and situations evolve. Talk to us during your assessment call about what arrangement makes sense for your family.
Standard Medicare does not cover live-in custodial care. Long-term care insurance policies often do, depending on your parent's plan. Some veterans benefits and Medicaid waivers may also apply. We can walk you through what to ask your insurer when we speak.

What's Included

Everything your parent needs to live comfortably and safely at home. That includes personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming), medication reminders and management, meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation to appointments, companionship, and regular family communication updates. Caregivers handle the full picture of daily life, not just a task list.
Yes. We match caregivers to care needs. If your parent has dementia, Parkinson's, or another condition that requires specialized experience, we find someone with that background. We do not place generalists where specialists are needed.
Caregivers send regular updates to the family, including how your parent is eating, sleeping, their mood, medications taken, and any notes worth sharing. You're never operating blind. Many families tell us these updates are the first time they've felt truly at ease since care began.

Support

You'll have a dedicated care coordinator who picks up the phone. Not a call center. Not a ticketing system. A real person who knows your family's situation and can act quickly if something changes.
Caregivers are trained to respond to medical emergencies, contact emergency services, and notify the family immediately. Because the caregiver is already there full time, your parent is never alone when something happens.
Call us directly at (470) 289-6667 or email support@by-hearth.com. We're happy to answer anything before you commit to a call. There's no wrong question.
